ABOUT THE BE GREAT LIKE KATE FOUNDATION
The Be Great Like Kate Foundation was created in memory and honor of Kate Ryan, who was subjected to metastatic breast cancer at the age of 24 to the time she passed at 34. Kate never thought about cancer and the possibility of dying instead she thought about living.
Through Kate’s multiple bouts with cancer and treatments she always found peace when she was at the barn either riding her horse or giving a lesson. Kate forgot about cancer and treatments in that moment. Kate ran marathons, competed in horse competitions and never used cancer as an excuse not to do something.
Kate never gave up her fight and will to live, but most of all she never gave up giving to others in so many ways. Kate always took the time out of her life to help others through their good times and bad and never looked for anything in return. It was in her passing that we found out so much more about the lives that Kate had touched through her generosity of friendship and love.
It was with that in mind that the Ryan family and I created the Be Great Like Kate Foundation, a non-profit 501(c)(3). We wanted to give cancer patients an escape from the dark days of cancer and treatments, with sunshine on the beautiful beach in St. Pete Beach, Fl.
We want cancer patients to live and make memories with family or friends, while not having to worry about the cost. We want to Be Great Like Kate and helping others in her memory.Kate lived each and everyday, caring and loving others. So Be Great Like Kate live today because yesterday is a memory and tomorrow isn’t guaranteed and most of all love and care for others as she did.
